Acupuncture (Neurofunctional)

Acupuncture is a form of therapy in which fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body. The needles are inserted through the skin, into the underlying muscles and tissues at specific points on the body for the purpose of alleviating pain, relieving pressure on nerves, improving mobility and re-establishing normal function.

Therapeutic goals and treatment targets are selected based on the identified dysfunctions that are contributing to the current symptoms. In combination with physiotherapy, a neuro-functional approach is taken, in which the individual’s dysfunction is determined, and treated accordingly. This is often used in conjunction with other forms of manual treatment.
